The Severstal Repair asset invests into additional safety and health

The "Severstal-Promservis" company which is a part of the "Severstal Russian Steel" has put more than 10 million of rubles into purchasing and installation of modern plumbing and welding equipment. These funds are an addition to the 37 million which the company has spent in the first half of 2011 for the purchasing of tools and equipment in accordance with the investment program. Its main objectives are safety and quality improving of repair works at the Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant.

About 234 instrument units will be purchased by September. There are mechanical multipliers, special strike keys, pneumatic and electric screwdrivers and welding inverters among them.

The new equipment in comparison with the using one has several advantages. For example welding inverters are fitted with built-in voltage reduction of idling. This makes them more secure, convenient and reliable. In addition these devices are small-sized (weight 8.5 kg), they can be easily transferred. It provides more access to the inaccessible and remote places on fixed objects of welding stations.

According to Andrey Lutsenko the manufacturing director and chief engineer of the "Severstal Russian Steel" - the new advanced equipment will not only reduce the risk of injury but also improve working conditions for workers and improve efficiency and quality of repair works.
